Good morning! Tough to say what’s good about it, though, as a) it’s Monday, b) it’s a glum day, and c) I was wide awake at 2:30 am and tossed and turned for a good while after that. Then I forgot my coffee at home and felt stabby on the ridiculously stop-n-go (emphasis on the stop) CTA. As my beloved friend Kate would say, there is way too much Monday in today!
But whatever, at least I’m having a little fun.
I feel like this is, quite obviously, the sister outfit to my last post – but while that girl was the preppy cheerleader, this one is the boho art student. Or something.
Just another belted cotton dress today, but it’s hot & humid & oh, did I mention Friday? I had such a difficult time waking up this morning. Anyone else? I just stood in my bathroom leaning against the counter for like 5 straight minutes at one point, blinking. Fact: I need more sleep. However… plenty of time to sleep when I’m dead. ;)
Everyone have a good weekend? I did, despite spending 8 hours total on a bus – all to and from Iowa for a barbecue and joint birthday-graduation party with friends old and new. And to wear?
I went with this fun cotton tank dress from Mossimo (size M), brown leggings from No Boundaries, and teal flats from Urban Outfitters. The shoes don’t entirely go, I know, but after those Michael Kors heels on Friday – and with hours of travel in my future – I was all about comfort, plain and simple.
Since I felt like such a hot mess on my birthday – and photos live for eternity to remind me – and walked around all wet and gross for a large part of the weekend, I felt the need to dress cuter today in something that made me feel good about myself. I think I succeeded!
It’s nothing out-of-this-world special, but I just feel put-together and sunny and bright, which makes me project an equally bright and optimistic attitude. (Anyone who says clothes don’t matter is sorely mistaken, and I actually pity those who have never felt what clothes can do.) Top matching throw pillow was unintentional, but I left it in view for my amusement. :)
Does anyone else miss those childhood days when Easter meant getting a brand new dress with some kind of ruffle or lace and undoubtedly flowers on it? And maybe even an Easter hat and gloves? I do!
These days my family is pretty casual for Easter, as we are for most holidays. Generally we gather at someone’s house for a very chill, low-key celebration of whatever holiday or month of birthdays it happens to be. This year we had so few people that we all fit at one table, which is very out of character for us, but it was, of course, still fun and full of good food & good laughs.
Accordingly, I kept my clothing casual:
Yellow shirt dress: Mossimo (size M), white leggings: No Boundaries (maybe not my favorite with this look, but it was just a bit too chilly for bare legs), purple leather belt: Gap, teal flats: Urban Outfitters.
I’m heading home for Easter weekend later today & feeling fine – but no pastels for me! No sir, this bright shade just makes me feel sunny & happy:
Orange cap-sleeve dress: Democracy (size 8) from TJ Maxx (love the collar & the pleating up top and repeated in the skirt), blue boho-paisley scarf as belt… no idea. I believe it came with something, but I cannot for the life of me remember what. I usually use it as a headscarf (à la this), but I wanted a belt of some sort here to both break up the solid mass of orange and weigh down the skirt a bit more, as it’s another that tends to pouf out a bit for some odd reason.
Yesterday was 60 & sunny; today was 30 & sleeting. Welcome to the Midwest.
Threw this together pre-Target run. Chartreuse cardigan by Susina (size M) from Nordstrom Rack, jeans: American Eagle, hat: Urban Outfitters.
