TGIF, am I right?
Super simple look today, but one I haven’t featured, so posting anyway – although there is really something to be said for simple clothes that are easy to wear and just make you feel good.
Sorry, no Jack or Meg White here – just an abundance of white stripes!
Ok, maybe not an abundance. I was worried it was perhaps too stripey and/or too matchy-matchy. What say you?
Just another belted cotton dress today, but it’s hot & humid & oh, did I mention Friday? I had such a difficult time waking up this morning. Anyone else? I just stood in my bathroom leaning against the counter for like 5 straight minutes at one point, blinking. Fact: I need more sleep. However… plenty of time to sleep when I’m dead. ;)
This is one of my favorite looks. I feel like a 1940s USO girl in it, and thus I call it my USO girl dress – I’ve got creativity for DAYS, I tell you!
Dress: OC by OC (size 12) purchased at TJ Maxx. No, those are not pleats in the front – it somehow did not lay flat in my closet and got a wee bit wrinkled. Yes, I decided to wear it anyway.
In response to my last post (the results are pretty evenly spread out right now, so please go vote!), a few people got talking about colorful, hot heels – and Divadoll21285 and I discussed red shoes in particular. As I told her, for a while I became obsessed with the idea of red shoes, I think back in college. I didn’t have any, and it was my quest to get some. They are just bright and bold and strangely empowering. They add kick to any outfit and are, let’s face it, rather sexy.
I now own 4 pairs. Ahem.
But, like she said, you need different types of red heels for different occasions. It’s important! With that, I present you my red shoe collection…
Heading home again this weekend for my good friend Elizabeth’s bridal shower, I opted for a simple top & skirt on this sunny (thankfully!) Saturday:
Brown V-neck tee: Gap favorite tee (size S), brown & black paisley and floral white skirt: Merona (size 12). I felt rather prim and proper in this, in a fun way. It’s nice to feel girly sometimes, and what better occasion than a bridal shower?
I’m heading home for Easter weekend later today & feeling fine – but no pastels for me! No sir, this bright shade just makes me feel sunny & happy:
Orange cap-sleeve dress: Democracy (size 8) from TJ Maxx (love the collar & the pleating up top and repeated in the skirt), blue boho-paisley scarf as belt… no idea. I believe it came with something, but I cannot for the life of me remember what. I usually use it as a headscarf (à la this), but I wanted a belt of some sort here to both break up the solid mass of orange and weigh down the skirt a bit more, as it’s another that tends to pouf out a bit for some odd reason.
