What’s that I spy after two days of rain & gloom?
Why, it’s the sun! Thank heavens! Hot and humid? Ok, we’re used to it. Hot and humid AND rainy? Ugh, PASS. But today I feel as summery as the weather in this easy-breezy look.
What wonderful news to receive on yet another sick day: I won Anyweargirl.com‘s Mad Men Time Travel Trivia contest! And the winnings are some truly chic and fantastique vintage French accessories:
Champs-Elysees beret and glam sunglasses
Check out the rest of my winnings here – I cannot wait to get them! I’m especially excited to try to rock the beret. Think I can do it? And be sure to cruise around Anyweargirl.com – it’s a new discovery for me, and I dig it.
By the way… have you voted today? :)
Loved Jessica Schroeder’s turban-style headscarf tutorial, and I thought it’d be perfect in helping disguise my sickness on a quick jaunt to the Target Starbucks for some passion tea lemonade. That’s good for a sore throat, right?
Well, turns out I don’t have quite the right scarves just yet – this one is very thin and small, though just barely long enough – but it’s still kinda cute.
Be nice; I’m sick & makeup-less. (Shades: ModCloth.)
And now, to Starbucks! I will not wander Target, I will not wander Target, I will not wander Target…

Hello, readers. It’s been a while! Sorry for the delay; I was home for the holiday weekend visiting with family and friends. But I am back. With a vengeance!
Naut It top by Blue Bird (size M), jeans: American Eagle (size 10).
This is one of my favorite looks. I feel like a 1940s USO girl in it, and thus I call it my USO girl dress – I’ve got creativity for DAYS, I tell you!
Dress: OC by OC (size 12) purchased at TJ Maxx. No, those are not pleats in the front – it somehow did not lay flat in my closet and got a wee bit wrinkled. Yes, I decided to wear it anyway.
Today’s post is almost identical to a previous one, but I simply love this dress. It feels so frisky and was just $11 – can you beat that?
Knit dress: AB Studio (size M) from Kohl’s. Switched it up with some purple Simply Vera tights (also Kohl’s) this time instead of black ones. And I’ve had this black, rhinestone-zippered cardigan since high school. Don’t know who it’s by, as I ripped the tag out because it was an XL, and I felt embarrassed or something. So silly. I should’ve been more embarrassed that I bought something from Gadzooks.
Does anyone else miss those childhood days when Easter meant getting a brand new dress with some kind of ruffle or lace and undoubtedly flowers on it? And maybe even an Easter hat and gloves? I do!
These days my family is pretty casual for Easter, as we are for most holidays. Generally we gather at someone’s house for a very chill, low-key celebration of whatever holiday or month of birthdays it happens to be. This year we had so few people that we all fit at one table, which is very out of character for us, but it was, of course, still fun and full of good food & good laughs.
Accordingly, I kept my clothing casual:
Yellow shirt dress: Mossimo (size M), white leggings: No Boundaries (maybe not my favorite with this look, but it was just a bit too chilly for bare legs), purple leather belt: Gap, teal flats: Urban Outfitters.
