What wonderful news to receive on yet another sick day: I won Anyweargirl.com‘s Mad Men Time Travel Trivia contest! And the winnings are some truly chic and fantastique vintage French accessories:
Champs-Elysees beret and glam sunglasses
Check out the rest of my winnings here – I cannot wait to get them! I’m especially excited to try to rock the beret. Think I can do it? And be sure to cruise around Anyweargirl.com – it’s a new discovery for me, and I dig it.
By the way… have you voted today? :)
Well, after MUCH consideration, I submitted my original photo in the Mad Men casting call contest! Here’s a screenshot:
Click to vote daily! As you can see, I didn’t wear the dress I’d planned on (which was really more ’40s than ’60s) and didn’t even take photos in the downtown location I’d originally wanted to, but I’m happy with it. Thanks for the help, Katy! (Dress details here, shoes: Nine West.)
I’m going to share a lot more photos from the photoshoot, and I’m definitely interested in what you like, but PLEASE don’t tell me “You should’ve used THAT ONE!” As my friends know, I agonized over the decision much more than a 27-year-old should, trust me!
What’s black & white & red all over? Me!
Please pardon my roommate’s moving boxes. You’ve seen almost this exact retro-style look before, so click here if you want to read what I love about it. This look is just slightly different, however, which leads me to a question. Should I try to avoid the repeats, or do you enjoy seeing looks that have already been featured, as long as they are switched up in some way? Feedback is appreciated!
And lastly in my Ladies of LOST series: What Kate Wore. (See what I did there?)
Needless to say, there will be *SPOILERS* ahead! I would highly recommend NOT reading further if you’re not caught up on the series. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Vintage John Locke welcomes you in…
This is one of my favorite looks. I feel like a 1940s USO girl in it, and thus I call it my USO girl dress – I’ve got creativity for DAYS, I tell you!
Dress: OC by OC (size 12) purchased at TJ Maxx. No, those are not pleats in the front – it somehow did not lay flat in my closet and got a wee bit wrinkled. Yes, I decided to wear it anyway.
In response to my last post (the results are pretty evenly spread out right now, so please go vote!), a few people got talking about colorful, hot heels – and Divadoll21285 and I discussed red shoes in particular. As I told her, for a while I became obsessed with the idea of red shoes, I think back in college. I didn’t have any, and it was my quest to get some. They are just bright and bold and strangely empowering. They add kick to any outfit and are, let’s face it, rather sexy.
I now own 4 pairs. Ahem.
But, like she said, you need different types of red heels for different occasions. It’s important! With that, I present you my red shoe collection…
