Sometimes when I’m bored, I go to Target. Terrible habit. But it’s a 5-minute walk from my apartment! So last night, when my plans were in flux, I walked in for no reason and walked out $93 poorer. Oops.
But I also walked out with this little number:
Draped Double Layer Tank Dress (Grey/Pebble): Mossimo (size M). It mystified me on the hanger, what with its curious double layer/tank lining, but trying it on was a pleasant surprise – especially considering the stripes… cuz that’s a lotta stripes.
Today’s outfit is nothing special – sweater from American Eagle, Mossimo jeggings *shudder* from Target – but today’s post is not about the clothes. No, today’s post is about the shoes.
Oh, hello! It’s been a while. Truth be told, I’ve simply been getting lazy and the dreaded C-word – no, not that, gutter-brains – comfortable. In any case, I’m back (for the moment) with what I wore to a really fun fall excursion this weekend. More than a dozen friends and I went to Richardson Farm in Spring Grove, IL, home of the world’s largest corn maze! We had spectacularly lovely, sunny weather during the afternoon but knew it’d cool off significantly once the sun went down, so it was all about layers.
Wore a cami under this Merona Ultimate Long-Sleeve Tee (in Mint Air) for extra warmth and paired it with a plaid vest by Heritage 1981 I’d never heard of this brand before, which is apparently made by Forever 21, but I got it at Crossroads in Evanston for $17. I’d been searching for the perfect vest for a very long time, and I really loved the fit, comfort, look, and style of this one (it also has a faux fur-lined hood, which I took off this weekend in favor of a hat).
Nope, no yellow here. I misled you. SHAME, SHAME!
But this buttoned sweater (size M) is by Banana Republic. (Get it??) And it’s cashmere. Loved the colors, the style, the buttons – and the price: only $17 at Crossroads!
Note to Evanston staff: try being friendlier and actually putting people’s clothes in the bag before brushing them off. Last I checked, leaving their clothes in a pile on the counter while you talk over them to the next customer is bad service.
Oh, Midwest, you tricky little minx. I already started dressing in Fall mode, and here it was sunny, warm, and generally beautiful! At least my colors were equally sunny & cheery:
This has been featured a few times before, maybe not even that differently, but I still thought it was fun enough to share. Dress: Four Stars (size L), brown woven leather belt: thrifted, yellow tights: Gap.
What a week it’s been so far: shake-ups, shut-ups & dress-ups (as for the latter, ahem, why yes, my friends and I did take an impromptu trip to the Bristol Renaissance Faire on Labor Day) – and it’s only Wednesday. Anyone else? Y’know what else has suddenly happened within the past week, at least here in Chicago? GLORIOUS FALL! To borrow a word from my dear friend Tate, it’s downright autumnal. And you know what that means…
That’s right, the return of the colored tights!
Ok, so for some reason the sun was being particularly unreasonable this morning, but if you can’t tell, my legs are orange.
