Pip pip cheerio! Did everyone enjoy the Royal Wedding? Or did you just care about letting everyone know how much you don’t care? (Do you want a cookie or something?) Months back, I was like, “Eh, whatever.” But then I realized just how fun and exciting it was gonna be, and I was all for it. In the words of @ecctv, it is just fun, dang. Plus, pop culture and fashion? I had to see it live!
Which is why, after too-short disco naps, Katy and I got up waaaaay too early Friday morning to get ready for my friend Roxanne’s Royal Wedding party.
These photos are some of the most crap-quality ever, but it’s dark out, and did I mention waaaaay too early to be awake?
Yesterday I experienced a little bit of “fashion karma,” so to speak. Or something of the sort. I’m not 100% sure on what to call it yet, but what I’m referring to is the phenomenon of finding something you really like and walking away from it, only to have it worm its tempting little self back into your life. Let me explain.
A while back, I saw Noche En La Copa dress by Edme & Esyllte at Anthropologie – on sale for $69.99, down from $138. I tried it on because I liked the colors and silhouette, and though it fit, I couldn’t justify the price.
When my friend Kari wanted to stop in Anthro yesterday, I glanced around the sale racks as usual and spotted one single Noche En La Copa dress left. In a size 8 – the size I had tried on. And it was marked down to $29.99. That, my friends, is fashion karma: being rewarded for sensibility and patience with an irresistible low-low price later on!
For $30, I think this is totally adorable, no?
Despite the fact that this dress isn’t really vintage or retro at all, I get a candy-coated, soda-shop vibe from it – perhaps it’s the colors or the shapes, which remind me of candies or fizzy soda bubbles.
In any case, it’s definitely light and flowy and fun.
I have been in such a good mood today – it’s Friday! it’s my friend William’s birthday! and I love my look today! And this one is a genuine day-to-night, office-to-out ensemble, too.
You’ve seen this dress before, but that was in a most ridiculous, staying-in-on-Friday-night silly post. Not so today. No, today I feel I am done up right, if I may say so myself!
Sine hollyhock dress (size 8): Anthropologie, ruffled grey cardigan: Express, braided sandals for comfort and bug-bite-avoidance: Mossimo.
Hello there! In the days since my last post, I have been mourning LOST, of course – but the blow was cushioned tremendously when I found out I WON the LOST Complete Series set from WeLoveLost.com! Gaaah, I’m so happy! I’ve also been busy and thus crazy-tired – to the point that I went to sleep at 8:00 pm last night! (It was still light out!) And yet, even with 11 hours of sleep, I felt like crap (twitchy eye ALL day) and look tiiired today. Blah!
At least I was bright & cheery-looking:
You’ve seen this dress before, and I didn’t do much with it today (that’s another reason I haven’t posted much this week – wearing a lot of simple dresses that I’ve blogged before), but the accessories are still fun. Also: wow, you can totally see the difference in pics I take before I leave for the day and those I take after I come home from a day at work. (Sssh, pretend it’s awesome!)
Greetings from Denver!
After my flight was canceled on Friday night due to some nasty Chicago thunderstorms, I finally made it here Saturday morning after many tears and frustrations passed. A special thanks to my friend Jamie for rescuing me from – and driving me back to – O’Hare. I really didn’t want to spend 2 hours on the CTA getting home, just to sleep for a few hours and have to get up at 4 am in time to spend another 2 hours going back to O’Hare with an hour to spare for security to make my rescheduled 7:25 am flight. Bleh! No thank you!
It all worked out, though, and I made it to the Mile-High City with plenty of time for Elizabeth’s 5:00 wedding at Red Rocks. I’m staying with my good friend Jenny (whom I’ve known since kindergarten and have been friends with since middle school!), and we made a stop at Macy’s before getting ready. Shoes were purchased – and a dress for Jenny as well for a black tie wedding this summer – and then it was back home to beautify!
How do you think we did?
Ok, so I know March is a little early to be busting out any sort of tropical print, but a Friday in the 60s is worthy of a little bright celebration! Especially if the weekend is supposed to bring us back to reality in the form of rain and snow. (Ugh, NO!)
