back to blonde, part 2

You saw the first step in my friend Jamie’s process of returning from a year as a redhead back to her natural blonde here. When she came over Wednesday night, we sort of spontaneously decided to attempt lightening it up even further.

After much mulling it over and weighing of options, we ended up with L’Oréal Couleur Experte 8.2 Iced Meringue: Medium Iridescent Blonde. Here’s the result:

The reddish tones are still peeking through – and some of the red was ridiculously obstinate and refused to change at ALL – but it’s definitely more of a multi-tonal blonde now.

All the colors and highlights give it a ton of dimension, which I love (but I pretty much always prefer mutli-tonal color to flat color – just my personal preference).

In an attempt to really saturate the highlights, I ended up running out of what came in the color + highlights Couleur Experte set and had to run downtstairs to Jewel for another box of just highlights to finish it fully (L’Oreal Touch-On Higlights in Champagne, I believe). You can see some of the red tinge here and there in this shot, but going from red to blonde is actually (clearly) a lot of work! Slowly but surely, with more highlights and time, she’ll get there.

Including myself, I think this makes… 6 times that I’ve done hair in the past couple months. Whoa. I wonder if I should consider a career change…
