candy-coated, soda-shop frock

Despite the fact that this dress isn’t really vintage or retro at all, I get a candy-coated, soda-shop vibe from it – perhaps it’s the colors or the shapes, which remind me of candies or fizzy soda bubbles.

In any case, it’s definitely light and flowy and fun.

I ordered the dress by Odille from Anthropologie 3 or 4 years ago. It was on sale and available in limited sizes, and for some reason, I thought a 12P might work. When worn on its own, it really does not fit well at all and is extremely baggy. You can sort of see that in these old photos:

Really not so flattering.

But that was a fun picnic. :)

Since it was on clearance, it was a final sale and thus unreturnable. So I’ve kept it and wear it from time to time, but it’s rare. Paired with this well-fitting cropped Mossimo jacket, however, I think it looks much better. If it’s going to be roomy on the bottom, it should at least fit well on top. I still wish it fit better on its own. I should really look into modifying it. Flats: Nine West.

Earrings: American Eagle, Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft. My my, look how they sparkle! Hello, sunshine, glad to have you back.

You know what’s next… have you voted today? I hardly see any point in this anymore, but hey, if you’ve got a minute to read my blog, you’ve got a few seconds to vote, right? Do it!

You look especially skinny in that first photo! An it’s a very cute dress. :)

    Still voting, btw.

Why thank you! It’s all about the angles, trust. ;)

And thanks again – I’m not gonna win, but the fact that I’m so far behind some genuinely BAD pics is a little sad!
