Ladies of LOST: Claire

Second in my Ladies of LOST series: Claire.

Needless to say, there will be *SPOILERS* ahead! I would highly recommend NOT reading further if you’re not caught up on the series. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Squirrel baby welcomes you in…

Ladies of LOST: Claire

Claire really doesn’t have any real definitive style in the series, but she doesn’t really need any. As a moody teen, then a conflicted woman dealing with an unplanned pregnancy, and finally a young, single mother, she was a bit preoccupied with more important things.

This is one of our first glimpses of Claire Littleton (played by Emilie de Ravin) in the Pilot episode:

She looks like this through most of the series. Well, not the pregnant part – just the casual cotton clothes part:

Season 1, Episode 10: “Raised by Another” – the lacy top, bell sleeves, and hippie-ish hair make her look really young, fresh-faced, and angelic, which, for the most part, she seems to be at this point.

Same episode: her babydaddy just left her. With her barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. What a dick.

Same ep – once again, cotton + hoodie. Long blonde hair. In this scene I believe she’s talking with lawyers about putting her baby up for adoption. It’s fitting that she looks unsure and vulnerable and young.

But since Claire’s clothes look pretty much the same throughout the series, let’s look at her hair:

From the Pilot: classic Claire. Long, blonde, slightly wavy.

At some point she must’ve gotten bored (like ya do when stranded on a mysterious island full of polar bears and smoke monsters) because suddenly she had bangs:

Season 3, episode 12: “Par Avion” – I get it, Claire. You get bored. I did the same thing! But I don’t think these are the best look for you (nor were they for me, sister). However, this is practically salon-perfect compared to her final incarnation… we’ll get to that. But first –

Goth Claire! Same ep. Girlfriend rocks this look, I have to say. The black makes her baby blues POP like crazy. She also looks pretty badass. Contrast that with…

Whoa! Talk about 180 – in the same episode, at another time in her flashback, we’re back to sweet Claire. Headbands really sell that idea, if you ask me (see also: Shannon).

And our latest incarnation of the once angelic Claire, seen here in the Season 6 episode “The Candidate”…

Well. Nothing says “crazy” like a rat’s nest on your head and a squirrel baby in your crib, am I right?

I LOVE CLAIRE. I totally agree with your hair review. I liked it long and wavy best. The bangs weren’t so good on her, just like they’re not so good on me. ;-)

Really? How can anyone love Claire?! Hahaha, SORRY, she’s just, uh… idk, she wouldn’t shut up about her BAY-BAY! ;)

I’m not convinced the bangs were good on me either, sister. :)
